Holidays are great aren’t they? When you get away from it all (taking your crocheting with you of course). It could be you have just come back from one, or like us just planing this years (hopefully). Is there a place you always go to? Why are you talking about holidays? I thought this was a crocheting blog (it is). We do not always get the chance to go to sunnier places, but when I heard the wife talking about Tunisia I thought our luck had changed. There I was dreaming about lying by the pool or on the beach with a cold drink in my hands, when my dreams were shattered. Because she had said Tunisian not Tunisia!!!
Here is the first blog of 2017 and I hope it is a good, no a very good one. What is going on you say, the one and only Johnny Depp comes to your house??? Yes that is right (what a way to start 2017) , well sort of!!! Not that he does any thing for me (personally I do not see the attraction). Do you have family ties? No. Do you know somebody who knows somebody who knows Johnny? No. The thing is that you can have Jonny in your home too. Would you like that? You would, I thought so. Now it will take a bit of effort and you might have to do things you have never done before (pegs may come in handy). You may also need someone to untangle your work now and again – but it will all be worth it in the end.
Let me tell you how all this came about. The wife was thinking about gifts for Christmas when we found out that there would be an extra person staying with us this Christmas, an extra gift was needed. We knew what the daughter was getting and what part of the present the wife was making.
All we had to do was make something similar for our other guest. We knew that our guest was a Johnny Depp fan so we knew what to do. That was to make a cushion with Johnny on it, so the work began. First looking for a suitable image of Johnny (well that was the wifes excuse for looking at Johnny Depp photo’s for hours). Who needs an excuse you say. Then to the web site who changes photos or pictures into a graph, then to use that to make a pattern. Simple right (not for me).
The pattern was made. The yarn ordered (no she did not have the right colours for it). Within a few days the yarn was here and the cushion started. What a cushion it turned out to be. It was loved and very much appreciated by our guest (and the rest of the world).
It was shared on a few places that the guest would not see before the big day. It went down like wild-fire. People wanting the pattern straight away (and willing to pay for it). Rock bands in Brazil loving it. I could go on and on, but I will not, not this time anyway.
So we decided to put the graphs of both the cushions on the blog. I hope which ever one you make – Kida or Johnny you will enjoy having it in at your home (at the minute both cushions are sitting in pride of place in our home). Here is the links enjoy.
