You will need

Scheepjes Whirl Cake in :-

Dandelion Munchies No 787

3.00 mm hook

Approx. – 55 – 60 4mm frosted glass beads in Black

Approx. – 55 – 60 4mm frosted glass beads in Yellow

Needle for weaving in ends

 

Crochet Terms

Sl – slip stitich

Ch – chain

Htre – half treble

Tre – treble

 

Special Stitches

Reverse picot – chain 4, half treble into back (your hook should be coming out of the front of the chain) of 3rd chain from hook.

Start of row reverse picot – chain 7, half treble into back (your hook should be coming out of the front of the chain) of 3rd chain from hook. (Be careful when you have finished the picot that your work hasn’t twisted round).

SHAWL

 Start in the middle of the whirl cake (yellow)

Chain 5, slip stitch into first chain.

1st row:- Start of row reverse picot (see special stitches), 1 chain, treble into chain 5 ring.

2nd row:- Start of row reverse picot, 1 chain, treble around chain just before reverse picot on row 1, reverse picot (see special stitches), 1 chain, 1 treble around chain after reverse picot on row 1, reverse picot, 1 chain, treble around 3rd chain from starting chain from previous row.

2nd Row

3rd row:- Start of row reverse picot, 1 chain, treble around chain just before 1st reverse picot from previous row, *reverse picot, 1 chain, treble into top of treble from previous row* continue from *-* to you have reached the last reverse picot on previous row, reverse picot, 1 chain, 1 treble around chain after reverse picot on previous row, reverse picot, 1 chain, treble around 3rd chain from starting chain from previous row.

Repeat the 3rd row 51 more times.

54th row:- 2 chain, *1 half treble around chain before reverse picot, 1 half treble into chain at top of reverse picot, 1 half treble around chain after reverse picot, 1 half treble into top of treble from previous row* repeat from * – * to end, with last half treble being into 3rd chain at start of previous row.

Last row half trebles

Finish of.

BORDER

Thread the beads onto your yarn – black, yellow etc, finishing with a black bead (this will be the first bead you use).

With the right side of the shawl facing you, starting at the top left-hand corner make 2 chain into the post, half treble into the same post.

*Into next post (this will either be chains or a treble) 2 half treble, 2 chain, join a bead by making another chain, 2 chain, 2 half treble*.

Repeat * – * down the side of the shawl to the bottom starting ring and make 2 half treble, 2 chain, join a bead by making another chain, 2 chain, 2 half treble around the chain at the bottom of the starting ring, repeat * – * up the side of the shawl to the last post, 2 half treble in last post.

Finish off and weave in ends.
