JOINING & BORDER

You will need:-

Stylecraft Special DK Aster (1003) 120 grams (354 meters – 387 yards)

4mm hook

 

JOINING

With the right side of the blocks facing you, put The World and Princess Peach’s Tiara beside each other with The World on the left and Princess Peach’s Tiara on the right.

Using the Aster coloured yarn make 1 chain (this is for a neat finish when weaving in ends) and join the right hand side of The World to the left hand side of Princess Peach’s Tiara by making 1 dc (UK terminology) into each post starting at the bottom corner and going up the side to the top corner.  Finish with another chain.

Repeat the joining process with Bowser’s Hat and Moon.  With Bowser’s Hat being on the right hand side and Moon on the left.

With the  right side of blocks facing you put Goomba above Glydon make 1 chain and join the bottom row of Goomba to the top row of Glydon with 1 dc into each stitch.  Finish with another chain.

Repeat the joining process with Koopa Troopa above Tostarean.

With the right side of the blocks facing you, put the joined Koopa Troopa and Tostarean to the left side of Cappy. Make 1 chain and join the right hand side of Koopa Troopa and Tostarean to the left hand side of Cappy by making 1 dc into each post starting at the bottom corner and going up the side to the top corner.  Finish with another chain.

With the right side of the blocks facing you, put the joined Goomba and Glydon to the right side of Cappy.  Make 1 chain and join the left hand side of Goomb and Glydon to the left hand side of Cappy.

With the right side of the blocks facing you put The World and Princess Peach’s Tiara above Koopa Troopa, Cappy and Goomba. Make 1 chain and join the bottom row of The World and Princess Peach’s Tiara to the top row of Kiipa Troopa, Cappy and Goomba with 1 dc into each stitch.  Finish with another chain.

With the right side of the blocks facing you put Bowser’s Hat and Moon below Tostarean, Cappy and Glydon. Make 1 chain and join the bottom row of Tostarean, Cappy and Glydon to the top row of Bowser’s Hat and Moon with 1 dc into each stitch.  Finish with another chain.

Weave in all ends.

BORDER

With the right side of the blanket facing you join the yarn (Aster colour) to the 4th post from the bottom right hand corner on the right hand side of the blanket.

1st round:-

1 chain and 1 dc (UK terminology) in the 4th post, *1chain, miss 1 post, 1 dc in next post*, repeat from *-* up the right hand side of the blanket, 3 dc, 2 chain, 3 dc in corner, *1 chain, miss stitch, 1 dc in next stitch*, repeat from *-* along top, 3dc, 2 chain, 3 dc in corner, *1chain, miss 1 post, 1 dc in next post*, repeat from *-* down the left hand side of the blanket, 3 dc, 2 chain, 3 dc in corner, *1 chain, miss stitch, 1 dc in next stitch*, repeat from *-* along bottom, 3dc, 2 chain, 3 dc in corner, 1 chain, miss stitch, 1 dc in next stitch, 1 chain, slip stitch in starting chain.

2nd round:-

Slip stitch in 1st dc and 1st chain from previous row, 1 chain, 1 dc into chain that you have just slip stitched into, *1 chain, miss dc from previous row, 1 dc in chain from previous row* repeat from *-* to 2 chain in corner (this means you will also be adding in the 3 dc at corner into pattern), 3 dc, 2 chain, 3 dc in the 2 chain at corner, continue in pattern around the edge of the blanket adding in the extra dc at corners into pattern, at each corner make 3 dc, 2 chain 3 dc in the 2 chain of previous row corner, slip stitch in starting chain.

Repeat round 2, 3 more times

Finish off and weave in ends.
