Joining and Border

You will need:-

Stylecraft Special DK Lipstick (1246) 140 grams (413 meters – 451 yards)

4mm hook

Joining:-

With right side of the blocks facing you, place them in the order you want them.  If you have done all the blocks it will be 5 across and 5 down (this is for a king size bed).

Make 1 chain (this is for a neat finish when weaving in ends) and join the top row of blocks to the next row with 1 dc (UK terminology) into each stitch of bottom border of top row and top border of 2nd row of blocks.  Finish with another chain.

Join 2nd row to 3rd row in same way and each row until all blocks are joined horizontally.

Join each column the same way starting with and finishing with a chain.

Bond all joined

Once all blocks are joined weave in ends.

 

Border:-

With right side facing make a chain approx. 1 inch up from bottom right hand corner, make 1 dc in each stitch going up the right hand side, make 2 dc’s, 2 chain, 2 dc’s at corner, 1 dc in each stitch along top edge, 2 dc’s, 2 chain, 2 dc’s at corner, 1 dc in each stitch down left hand side, 2 dc’s, 2 chain, 2 dc’s at corner, 1 dc in each stitch along bottom, 2 dc’s, 2 chain, 2 dc’s in corner, 1 dc in each stitch to chain at beginning, slip stitch into chain.

Do 2 more rows of dc’s around blanket/afghan starting with a chain and making 2 dc’s, 2 chain, 2 dc’s in each corner finishing with a slip stitch into starting chain.

Finish of and weave in all ends.
